MediterrArt APS · Since 2018

Art brought us together. Europe helped us grow.

We are a social promotion association founded to bring young people closer to culture and create opportunities for participation. What began there has grown into a journey connecting European mobility, non-formal education, continuing training and local initiatives.

Our roots

From art to new possibilities.

MediterrArt was founded in July 2018 out of the belief that art can be a space for meeting, growth and expression. From the very beginning, we chose to combine local cultural activities with the opportunities offered by Erasmus+, opening up to exchanges with young people from other countries.

In 2020, our first Erasmus+ grant as a coordinating organisation supported Strategy of Work, a project on employability and skills for navigating the labour market. In 2021 we staged Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana in Fragagnano, bringing together artistic production, community participation and local cultural life.

These are not separate paths. From music and theatre to creative workshops and European mobility, we look for shared languages that bring together people with different backgrounds and perspectives.

How we work

Ideas take shape through experience.

Every project brings us into contact with different people, subjects and places. What connects them is a way of working based on direct exchange, creativity and learning by doing.

Culture and creativity

Art as a shared language.

With Mediterranean Art among Young People we explored music, dance, visual arts and movement; with United for Peace we used the power of art to challenge stereotypes and prejudices and create moments open to the community.

Artistic experiences beyond Italy—from street art in Razlog to improvisational theatre in Braga and Art for Inclusion workshops in Mollina—have expanded this dialogue between cultures.

Non-formal education

Learning through dialogue.

With Fight Fake News we explored disinformation through critical thinking and created a book and six participant-made videos. Cyberbullism? No, Thanks opened a conversation about digital safety, while Citizens in Action combined democratic simulations, dialogue with the Sava Youth Council and the creation of a handbook of educational methods.

With SAFE-HI we explored group care and safer educational environments; during the Click Against Hate exchange in Sinaia we addressed empathy and digital responsibility. These are perspectives we bring into our everyday activities, always placing people at the centre.

Environment and local places

Caring for places becomes participation.

With Ecologize Your Mind, sustainability became a local concern through awareness-raising activities and action along the coast. With COSTA, that commitment grew into field visits, documentation of environmental issues and reports.

This continuity is also visible in collective action: after the 2025 sustainability exchange in Braga, young people worked with MAUS on an art installation using reclaimed glass bottles.

The COSTA project

Across Europe, together

Every encounter opens new perspectives.

Alongside the projects we coordinate, we join mobilities led by partner organisations. From street art in Bulgaria to inclusion initiatives in Spain, from employability and digital skills in Torremolinos to rural community development in El Borge, every experience expands our methods and our dialogue with young people from different countries.

With A Journey for Inclusion, part of DiscoverEU Inclusion, travel itself became a learning experience. Crossing Europe by train, organising things together and navigating unfamiliar situations helped build independence, confidence and a spirit of discovery. The three routes also inspired a guide to sustainable travel for other young people.

Alongside exchanges, we invest in training people who work with young people. From workshops in Bari to meetings with the Italian Youth Agency in Rome, we share methods, skills and project practices. Our work continues after mobility activities through school presentations—such as at the De Sanctis-Galilei school in Manduria—and local initiatives.

Our journey continues

Art, education and local communities come together through people.

The forms may change—a youth exchange, a workshop, a performance, a journey or a local initiative—but the aim remains to create meaningful opportunities to participate, learn and try something new.
